Hockey director Simon Ekbäck Nordström, and Eagles new director Carl-Petter Montell, believe that their various skills complement each other well.

Soon the recordings of the popular TV series Eagles second season will start in Oskarshamn. We met the new director of the series, Carl-Petter Montell, and hockey director Simon Ekbäck Nordström, to talk a little about Eagles, hockey, and what it's like to come from a small town.

We meet Carl-Petter and Simon, at the ice rink in Oskarshamn where a large part of the Eagles series takes place. In the days the second season of the series begins to be recorded, and Carl Petter Montell is now taking over as the series's new director, and Simon Ekbäck Nordström, who also worked with the production last season, has now been given the official title of hockey director.

Carl-Petter Montell has worked for the past seven years with casting (cast), and has also cast all actors for the first season of the Eagles. He is a true TV and film fanatic, he says, and interest in directing has been with him since childhood.

- I started recording short films already when I was in elementary school, and ran around in my parents' garden and directed my friends who were in the films. I have long dreamed of directing, and when the team told me they needed a new director, I flagged because I was interested, says Carl-Petter Montell.

He also says that he did not know Oskarshamn very well before he started working on the series. But since he also grew up in a small town, in his case Norrtälje, there is much he recognizes from his old hometown.

- Oskarshamn and Norrtälje are very similar, since Norrtälje is also a port city. And the small town is an important element of this series, and the Eagles are to some extent made for everyone living in a small town, at least it is not primarily aimed at Stockholmers. I know exactly what it is like to come from a smaller city where everyone knows everyone, and have very predetermined opinions about each other, and I think that is also important to achieve, says Carl-Petter Montell.

Hockey, of course, also plays an important role in the Eagles. Simon Ekbäck Nordström is the series's hockey director and works, among other things, to make the match scenes as realistic as possible. Simon has a background as a hockey player in Björklöven, something he did, until he was in his twenties, when he switched to working with film. He helps the actors, among other things, by telling how a player thinks before, during and after the match, how the talk goes in the dressing room and on the plane, and so on.

- Carl-Petter and I also have great help from each other. He can say, for example, when it gets too "technical" and make sure there is more drama in the stage, instead of it being so technically correct. I, on my part, can contribute with the knowledge of details, something that is important for the viewers who are interested in hockey, but who the others in the team do not know. So we complement each other very well, says Simon Ekbäck Nordström.
